11 years ago, communications satellites Iridium 33 and Kosmos 2251 collided in orbit, destroying both

On 10 February, 2009, an accidental collision happened in space in which a commercial Iridium-33 and abandoned Russian military satellite, Kosmos-2251 accidentally collided at a speed of 42,000 KMPH and altitude of 789 KM above the Taymyr Peninsula in Siberia, Russia. This was the first time in recorded history when two man-made space objects actually collided against each other.
