On 15 February, 2013, the Chelyabinsk meteor, a superbolide that entered Earth's atmosphere over Russia exploded injuring 1500 people.
The light from the meteor was even brighter than the Sun, visible up to 100 kilometers away. It was observed over a wide area of the region and even in some neighbouring countries. Some eyewitnesses also felt intense heat from the meteor's fireball.
