49 years ago, 87 countries including the United Kingdom and United States signed the Seabed Treaty outlawing nuclear weapons in international waters

On 11 February, 1971, the Seabed Arms Control Treaty (or Seabed Treaty) was signed between 87 countries including the US, UK, Germany, India, Greece, Mexico and several others.

The countries who have refused to sign this agreement include Pakistan, North Korea and France.

The countries who have signed but not ratified the treaty include Bolivia, Sudan and Tanzania.
